Transistor
Created in 1954 by John Bardeen, William Shockley, and Walter Brattain. Transistors replaced large bulky vacuum tubes. They ran more efficiently and allowed for more space in the computer. -
GUI
Created by Xerox Palo Alto Research Center as a prototype in 1979, the Graphical User Interface is how we interact with our computers every time the screen turns on. Steve Jobs popularised the GUI and made it "affordable" after seeing the prototype on a tour. -
IBM Personal Computer
Created by IBM, this first personal computer became the standard for personal computers to follow. -
