    Z1
    From 1936 to 1938, Konrad Zuse from Germany built the Z1. The Z1 was the first functional computer and the first modern computer capable of binary programming. Konrade Zuse built this in his parents' living room.

  • Hewlett - Packard

    Hewlett - Packard
    In 1939, Bill Hewlett and David Packard founded the company Hewlitt - Packard in a garage. Their first product was the HP 200A Audio Oscillator in which Disney used the second model of the prodect in their movies at the time.

  • ENIAC

    ENIAC
    The ENIAC was completed in 1946 but was started in 1943. J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly created it at the University of Pennsylvania. The ENIAC was very large and took up 1,800 square feet and contained 18,000 vacuum tubes which were used to power it. Altogether, the ENIAC weighed 50 tons. The ENIAC could operate 5,000 times per second whic is 1,000 times faster than computers before it.

  • Eckert - Mauchly Computer Corporation

    Presper Eckert and John Mauchly, who created the ENIAC, also made a company known as the Eckhert - Mauchly Computer Corporation. The company only created the BINAC before joining with Remington Rand.

    Transistors
    William Shockley, Walter Brattain, and John Bardeen created the point - contact transistor. Later, AT&T Bell Laboratories created better versions of this transistor.

    Whirlwind
    Starting in 1943, the United States Navy went to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to build a flight simulator. At first, the computer was meant to be analog but it was not good enough and then later switched to digital after seeing the ENIAC.

    The FORmula TRANslator (FORTRAN) was a new language which allowed computers to perform instructions and use loops. The first program was run at Westinghouse.

  • SpaceWar!

    Slug Russell, Shag Graetz, and Alan Kotok (students of Massachusetts Institute of Technology) developed the first computer game. SpaceWar! was an intercative game where oponenets fired at one another's spaceships. This led to future computer games.

  • ARPANET

    The ARPANET has evolved into what our generations now call the internet. Lick Licklider and Lawrence Rooberts created the ARPANET. At this time, the ARPANET was extremely slow, nowhere near as fast a our internet is today. This was a stepping stone in creating faster internet speeds.

    Nolan Bushnell created the company known as Atari games and introduced Pong.

    The Microsoft Disk Operating System was the basic software used for the IBM PC. Bill Gates and Paul Allen invented th company in 1975.

    Macintosh
    Apple introduced the first mouse controlled computer called the Macintosh. In 1984, they introduced a commercial during the Superbowl which cost them a whopping one and a half million dollars. This commercial was clever because they used George Orwell's book '1984' and destroying Big Brother with their computer. At this time, the innovation cost $2,500.

    Yahoo.com was introduced and changed the way news was brought to people and emails. Yahoo is still the number one email site and have expanded to present news. They also have many different categories like sports, answers, and more.

    YouTube was invented in 2005 and is a site where people from all over the world can post videos and view videos. Today, YouTube is the number one video playing website and is popular for musics, funny videos, and everything inbetween.

    iPhone
    The first generation of iPhone was released in June of 2007 but was announced in January of 2007. iPhones led the way for many of today's smart phones. The operating sytem inside the iPhone was vastly different than that of ones in the flip phones.
