  • Floppy Disk

    Floppy Disk
Alan Shugart and a group of IBM engineers created the floppy disk. This would allow for a way to share data among computers. It was made of a thin disk of a magnetic strip that was covered by a plastic case. Was the first step to creating now used USB drives, optical discs, and memory cards.
  • Ethernet Cables

    Ethernet Cables
Robert Metcalfe who was a researcher at Xerox created ethernet cables. They allowed for the connection between multiple computers as well as other external hardwares. With more computers and hardware being able to be connected this allowed for computers to grow to a larger consumer base since they can now attach what they need to get their desired jobs done.
  • Apple 1

    Apple 1
Steve Jobs along with Steve Wozniak introduced the Apple 1. Which was the first computer to have just a single circuit board. This was an important part in the time line where computers switched to single circuit boards as well as shows the beginnings of the multi billion dollar business apple would become.
  • VisiCalc
