-
Period: to
Early History
Humans were used for calculating
It was Babbage’s idea to create machine to calculate at first
People used punch cards after a time
The machine could only calculate -
Period: to
First Generation Computers
Main component = Vacuum tubes
The machine was very big
Conducted a lot of heat
People had to use air conditioning
These machines could calculate way faster than humans but they are unreliable
Bendix G-15 was a computer at that time -
ENIAC was announced to public
ENIAC was announced to the public
was a lot easier to use than the others at that time -
IBM 1401
Came in 1953
2,500 Dollars to rent at that time
The most succesful model of IBM 1400 series -
Period: to
Second Generation Computers
Main component = transistors
Were more reliable and faster than the first generation computers
But still needed air conditioning
Required a lot of maintenance
IBM 7000 -
IBM System/360
-
Period: to
Third Generation Computers
Main component = Integrated Circuit (IC)
Could run many applications at once
Had developed keyboards and mouse
Had high level Language
Had magnetic core as main storage
But still conducted a lot of heat so then humans still had to use air conditioner -
Period: to
Fourth Generation Computers
1971-Present
Main component = Chips (Not the eating one)
May heat up but you don’t need air conditioning but may need a miniature a/c for a laptop
Now portable, smaller, faster, and better
More convenient
A lot more affordable
At least 8GB of ram -
Apple I
Created by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak
compac
easy to use
awesome no that expensive
