The Z1
The Z1 is the first programable computer. It was created by Konrad Zuse. It did not have lots of memory and ran very slowly. This is important becuse this was one of the first working computers that could actually process! There were lot's of parts and it ran slowly but it was one of the first computers that worked. -
The Collosus
This was the first electronic programing computer. It was created by Tim Flowers. It was really importiant because it helped during World War ll to decode German messages. This is a big milestone because they are now using electricity to power the computer. Without this invention, we might have used a different power source and our computers would not be running as fast. -
EDSAC (First stored program computer)
This is the first computer that was able to store and run a program. It was created in Britan and it made it's first calculation in 1949. It is also agknowledged as the first computer taht was able to run a graphic computer game. This is importiant because without this inverntion we would not have any of the programs on our computer that are on them know. We could not have any computer games ether. -
The IBM 701
The IBM 701 was the first mass produced computer. They sold 19,701 units of the BIM 701. This computer was much faster and more advanced than any other computer before it. It was able to preform 2,200 calculations/second and it's memory was able to hold 2,048 words. This is importiant because this is the start of allowing the public acess to the computer. Without this invention we would not have acess to any technology. -
CDC 6000 series
These were the first supercomputers. They were considered the fastest of all computers in the world (at the time). The computers when to speeds of 36.4 MHz and a it's memory was able to hold 65,536 - 60 bit words. These computers were super expensive also. This is importiant because computers are being able to store more menory. They are running faster and it is showing that computers are progressing. -
Apple ll
This was Apple's second computer built. This computer was super easy to use and you were able to expand too. the CPU had memory of 1 MHz and the RAM had 4 KB. The computer also used floppy disk interface so that you could load different software.They were able to sell about 5,000,000 different computers. This computer was known for it's games. -
Macintosh
This was the first computer that used a mouse and images. You did not have to have a code to work the computer. This computer was created by Steve Jobs in January of 1984. This is important because without the graphical interface we wouldn't have our computers now! It would be really hard for us to work computers. If it was still progamed by code, I would not use computers at all. -
Windows 3.11 is released
Microsoft realeases Windows 3.11. Windows 3.11 allowed you to multitask and run multiple programs. This is importiant because without multitasking we would be in lot's of trouble! Now we have itunes running while we are writing an essay on pages while looking at a website of firefox. We multitask so much that wouthout this invention we would be in trouble. -
Ipod
The Ipod was created in 2001 by Apple. It was a pretty small device that you could use to listen to music and keep it in your pocket. The first ipod had two models. One model had a 5GB memory and the other model had a 10GB memory. There was no touch screen or dials with the first ipod. The ipod is super important because without these we wouldn't have all of the generations of ipods that we have now. We would not have the phones that so many of us have today without the ipod. -
Ipad
A mini computer that you can hold in your hands? Apple came out with something that blew everyone's mind away. They created a computer with ether 16, 32 or 64 GB memory that was thinner than a laptop. It had all kinds of crazy features. It was a touch screen, it was super thin, and it was small enough to hold in your hands (bigger than a iphone though). This is important because Ipads help us research things, play games, take pictures, and tell time. They are a little computer that we cad use.
