After the Potatoe Famine, nobody wanted to farm anymore. Many years later, I lost my job so I wanted to come to America with my brother to get a job and find land.

Ellis Island

I came to America on a boat with my brother. When we arrived to Ellis Island, many people were over charging us for food and money.

Homes and neighborhoods

After my brother and I arrivedd in Ellis Islland, we tried to find a home in New York. The neighborhoods were bad because there were so many crimes and deaths. The house conditions weren't so great either and it was overcrowded.

I was able to get a job as a laundry worker. I worked for very low pay.

Land

We came to America and lived in the East. It was very overcrowded and in bad condition so we wern't able to do much. WE want to move to the West so we can get more space and have our very own farm.

Homestad Act.

Dec 5, 1862

My brother and I recieved an acor of land for 5 years. I can know build my farm and grow crops. At the end of the 5 years, i will be able to pay for the land from all the money I wil have from the crops we will grow.

Free Land

My brother and i built a nice home in the west. We then build a farm. We earned lots of money from the crops we sold.

Calling for my family

After we had moved to the wast and build a farm and home, I wrote a letter to my parents and other syblings to come to America and live with us.

My family Comes

Nov 4, 1890

My family was able to immigrate to America. My brother and I met them in Ellis Island. We rode on our horses back to our farm.

I avventially got married and had 3 kids. We built a new home to live in a couple miles away from my other family.
