    The New Jersey colony was successfully founded in 1660.

    King William and Queen Mary took the throne from King James II in a peaceful revolution.
  • Royal Colony

    A new charter makes Massachusetts, including Maine and Plymouth, a royal colony.
  • Overseas Trade

    By the 1700's, overseas trade from the colonies grew quickly, allowing the colonies to make more money than before.
  • South Carolina Rice Plantation

    This plantation was a big farm used for only harvesting and planting rice. Large plantations like this one often encouraged the growth of slavery.
  • Stono Rebellion

    100 enslaved Africans in South Caroline took weapons from a firearm shop and killed several people.
