    The colony of Roanoke was an English colony that settled in want is now North Carolina. Their leader John White had to leave them to go back to England for supplies. He got delayed from the Spanish Armada making a total of 3 years. When he did finally return, he had found that the whole colony vanished and a tree had croatoan carved in it.     Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement. The town profited off of tobacco farming. They had frequent fighting with the indians nearby.     Around 100 settlers went on the Mayflower to the new world by King James I. They landed at Plymouth rock and built a permanent settlement there. More than half of them died the first winter due to being unprepared and ignorant to the climate of America. Squanto, a native american, found them and helped them survive.     New York was settled by the Dutch and named after the Duke of York. It was founded for trade and profit for the Dutch. Their city was named New New Amsterdam, and in 1664 the British fought the Dutch and took New Amsterdam and renamed it New York City.     The Great Migration is when a large wave of puritans and separatist from England wanted to separate from the church by migrating to the new world.     Settled by 1,000 puritans from England under governor John Winthrop and deputy governor Thomas Dudley. They established a theocratic government, limited by the church.     Maryland was founded by Lord Baltimore who got a charter to make a place for Catholics who were being persecuted in Europe. More and more people came to settle here, including non-Catholics. This lead to the Act of Toleration being made to protect those who were catholic. This act was repealed and puritans took control of the colony.     Rhode Island was settled in 1636 by Rodger Williams and others who were exiled from the Massachusetts Bay colony. They settled the town of Providence and made it a place for puritans and gave religious freedom. Other towns were also settled, but they were all not united.     This act was similar to the first amendment in that it gave religious freedom. The act was specifically made for Christians in colonies that were being oppressed by other groups.     The Jamestown people were having a dispute over whether or not to make peace or harm the Indians near their town. Nathaniel Bacon was a new member on the governor's council and proposed to ride of the Indians, but no one else agreed. So he got townsfolk and went against the governor Berkeley.     Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn for the purpose of having a place for Quakers. He got a charter from the king that had more limitations than other charters, but he didn't seem to mind.     The Witch Trials in Salem started in the spring of 1692.     The salutary neglect was a British policy on the colonies that put taxes on goods. This is a soul reason why the revolution happened in America.     in the 1700s, people started to view the world with scientific logic and reason and didn't feel the need to go to church anymore. This continued until the early 1720s when pastors started to preach a little differently. The great awakening started with Jonathan Edwards when he started giving sermons about how people were sinners and God was angry at us.     A seven year war between France and Britain in the new world. It started when the France expanded into the Ohio River area. France was winning at first, however in 1757 when the British got a new general named William Pit who made troops in America and fought in Europe. The British won in 1758.

    This treaty was written by Britain and made it that no colonists could settle more west past the Appalachian mountains and Ohio river. Despite this law, colonists settled the west anyways.
