Russo-Japanese War
The Russo-Japanese war breaks out in Feb. Japanese besiege Port Arthur and occupy Seoul. After that the Russian Minister of the interior, Viacheslav Plehve, was assasinated. Russia's fleet partially destroyed off Port Arthur. and finally Russia defeated at Liaoyang, China, in Oct. -
Sykes-Picot accord
A secret agreement made between Britain and France that would divide the Arab world, while niether of those countries owned teritories, they were to effectively rule over them. -
Balfour declaration
The Balfour Declaration in 2nd of november 1917, a letter from the british foreign Secretary Arthur James Balfour to Lord Rothschild, by which they assure the jews a national home in palestine. And later the Balfour declaration led the League of Nations to entrust the united kingdom with the palestinian mandate in 1922 -
The Treaty of Versailles
The treaty of Versailles signed on the 28th of June, 1919, in Versailles near Paris. It ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied powers. But it was known for germany as "The Peace to end all Peace", that is because it placed Germany under so many war debts, paying for reperation for the war. -
The Palestinian Mandate
The League of Nations council approves mandates for Palestine and Egypt. It reassures the jews in getting a national home land in Palestine, but taking into consideration the rights of the society. -
Nuclear weapons
The first nuclear attack: U.S drops atomic bombs on Hiroshima Aug 6 and Nagasaki Aug 9. By that Japan surrenders, and it is the end of WWII, the war dead estimated to be 35 million plus 10 million in Nazi concentration camps. -
Al Nakbeh
British proposal to divide Palestine rejected by Arabs and Jews; quesiton reffered to the UN which announces plan for partition.Furthermore, the peace treaties are signed in Paris.
In 1948, the Jewish state comes into existence, Weizmann president, Ben-Gurion Premier. -
The Suez crisis
Nasser elected President of Egypt; U.S. and Britain inform Egypt that they will not participate in financing Aswan High Dam;Nasser siezes Suez canal; Brit. and Fr. nationals leave Egypt; Dulles plan rejected by Nasser; Anglo-French forces bomb Egyption airfields Oct.31; U.S. and U.S.S.R. pressures effect cease-fire Nov.6; Fr. and Brit.troops withdraw and UN fleet clears Suez Canal.(page 539 -Daniel J. The six day war
The six day war or what is know today as Al-Nakseh, is a war between the Israeli's and The Arabs by which it finished in six days, and with huge losses for the Arabs. Israeli forces didn't want to be attacked first so they maid a successful military attack on the air force of Egypt before the war evn started. In the end, the Arabs lost the sinai penensula from Egypt, thwest Bank from Jordan, the Ghaza strip, and finally the Gholan hieghts from syria. -
The assasination of Martin Luther King
Martin Luther KIng, Jr. leader of the Negro civil rights movement and winner of 1964 Nobel Peace Prize, is assasinated in a Memphis motel.
