Vocational Education Act
Also known as the (VEA), this Act increased funding for vocational learning and educational technology. Although this wasn't for traditional learning in classrooms, it was the beginning of schools allowing technology inside their walls. It was the start of technology in schools I believe this Act is important because we aimed our Genius Hour Project towards businesses to ask for sponsorships and funding for technology in classrooms, so in the end, it would prepare them for jobs in the future. -
Elementary and Secondary Education Act
(ESEA). This Act granted more funding and money to create new computer programs in education. There were countless technology-driven programs funded from the ESEA. This act also authorized for professional development, new instructional materials, resources to support educational programs, and parental involvement -
Computers started entering into schools
Apple created and began selling their first personal computer in 1977. Many schools took advantage of this and began testing and experimenting using this new technology and combining it with course material. This was the start of computers being largely used within schools to this day. -
Microsoft releases Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Microsoft made a huge leap regarding technology in classrooms through the release of their programs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This was just the beginning of what now is the some of the most used programs by teachers and students alike. -
SMART Board Interactive Board
SMART technologies introduced their first interactive whiteboard. The first board was simply an LCD screen attached to a computer. It was designed to function as a large display screen.

Youtube
The creation of Youtube gave instructors a huge advantage in being able to use outside resources and events to help teach students. Youtube allows for teachers to show videos of things that students may not have normally been able to see and learn about. -
Web 2.0
Teachers have began to utilize Web 2.0 tools to enhance their instruction.These tools are being used to extend classroom communication outside of the campus through online collaborative tools. Focused on collaboration and sharing, Web 2.0 computer applications encourage student self-expression; interaction with peers, and opportunity for authentic learning experiences. -
Distance Learning
Distance learning is a method of schooling that allows students to take courses online to learn rather than being in a normal classroom setting. Although some may say this is an ineffective method, it fits some students lives' better than others. Some students feel more comfortable in this setting, so it is teachers' jobs to do their best for their students. It allows for more internet and world access, more connections, and social learning -
iPads were created
The invention of iPads and introduction of them into schools accelerated learning in many aspects. There are many apps, games, and learning tools that teachers started to utilize with their students. Apps such as Quizlet, Class Dojo, etc., were all used by teachers to improve their students learning
