This Treaty led to many outcomes, such as maintaining Finland's independence, while ending the Soviet's attempt to annex Finland. The Treaty also allowed the Soviet's to have some power in Finland. -

GDR Recognized by Soviet Union
The Soviet Union recognized the Soviets through many events. During repearations the Soviets owned more than 20% of the major companies and corporations in Germany. The Soviets also then acknowledge the power that the Germans had. -
Social Unity Party
The Social Unity Party was a communist party that had a Marxist-Leninist ideology. Not only that, but the Party was also considered as Stalinist in the beginning. The Social Unity Party was known for rejecting parties or plans such as Glasnost and Perestroika. This was a result of the unification of the Social Democratic and Communist Party in the Soviet Occupation Zone. -
Treaty of Rome
The Treaty of Rome was established in order to create more customs unions. One of its goals was to also create a more common market with workers, services, etc. The Treaty of Rome was established by West Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Netherlands, and Luxembourg. -
Anglo-American Zone/Bizone
Anglo-American Zone were shared during the German occupation after WW2. The zones were also created in order to develop the growing economy along with a new political system. -
People's Congress and GDR Constitution
This served as the basis for democratic groups and other parties to be represented in government. The People's Congress also used the socialist to achieve and maintain their goals as well. -
Six Power Conference
The Six Power Conference was a conference that discussed the future of Germany. Although things were to be discussed and carried out, the Soviets still threatened the conference but was ignored. -
Berlin Blockade
The Berlin Blockade was an attempt to stop or limit the Western powers from supplying resources to civilians by the Soviets. The Soviets were mainly focused on stopping the US, France, and Great Britain from achieving this. In a response to this the Western powers organized the Berlin Airlift in order to go around the blockade, delivering the resources to the civilians. This incident also made the Soviets look bad, as they believed that the Western powers could not overcome this blockade. -
Currency Issue in Western Zone
The currency was changed because the Western Allies wanted to make the the currency unified as a single unit. The Western Allies also wanted to change the currency because then it would be more uniformed. -
"Basic Law" for Federal Republic of Germany
The Basic Law turned Germany into a democratic parlimentary system. This system seperated powers between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. -
GDR Formed
The German Democratic Republic was officially formed in 1990 as East and West Germany merged together. After WW2 Germany was split into four sections, these sections were later dispersed and the country united as whole. -
Pleven Plan
This was a plan proposed by Pleven who wanted to organize a military bloc for Western European states. Not only that, but this plan eventually led to the creation of NATO. -
FRG announces Hallstein Doctrine
The Hallstein Doctrine was a policy that conveyed the message that the Federal Republic would not recognize any state or have any relation with if that state recogned GDR. Although in 1970 the doctrine was difficult to maintain or comprehend, hence the Federal Republic changed its view on GDR. -
Warsaw Treaty
The Warsaw Treaty was created as a defense against NATO, not only that but this treaty was also an alliance between the communist nations in Eastern Europe. This Treaty also allowed the Soviets to gain more power. -
Khrushchev and "Berlin Ultimanium"
The Berlin Ultimanium was established by Khrushchev which would give the Western powers six months to leave Berlin in order to make it a more free and demilitarized. Although this was issue, the US, UK, and France refused to leave West Berlin. -
Brandt Becomes Chancellor; Policy of Ostpolitik
Policy of Ostopolik was also known as West Germany's Foreign Policy, this Policy was created by Willy Brandt. Brandt was a former foreign minister then turned chancellor, Brandt wanted to create this policy in order to improve relations with Eastern European countries. -
Berlin Wall Falls
The Berlin Wall was first built to split the Communist from the Democrats, or the West from the East and was built in 1961. In 1990, the Berlin Wall was officially destroyed which led to German Unification. -
Berlin Wall Built
The Berlin Wall was built in order to seperate West from East Berlin, East Berlin being communist and the West not. Not only that, but drastic political changes led to the wall being built and enhanced when Germany citizens would try to escape from one side to the other. -
"Second Berlin Crisis"
The Second Berlin crisis was pretty much Berlin having more incidents. Key Points include CheckPoint Charlie and residents escaping in and out of East and West Germany. -
Unrest in GDR (Reaction)
Both West and East Germany had different reactions when the wall was built. Germans from the East wanted to escape to the west but this was denied by the government as they could not do much. This eventually led to the Berlin Airflit and the Americans aiding Germans in Berlin with resources. Once the wall was torn down Germany was then reunited as a whole. -
Adenauer
Konrad Adenauer was a Chancellor of Germany who led Germany out of WW2. Adenauer also during his reign in power increased Germany's prosperity and stability along with other positive outcomes. -
Basic Treaty (FRG and GDR)
The Basic Treaty allowed both West and East Germany to recognize each other as soverign states. This treaty's aim was also to enhance or better the relations between the two states. -
Two Plus Four Treaty
The Two Plus Four Treaty established the German borders and territories. This treaty also limited weapons and regulated the withdrawl of Soviet Troops. -
FRG Joins NATO
West Germany was granted permission to join NATO while keeping their promise to rearm themselves with resources. This membership allowed West Germany to be close allies with the US.
