Cold War Starts
The cold war was the geopolitical, economical struggle between two powers,The USA and the USSR. The two were always allies, never enemies but after defeating Hitler's Germany and Japan during WWII,the two world superpowers were against each other. It all started with the USA and USSR starting to disagree on a lot of topics, the powers didn't agree on a majority of big important things.This event was a big deal because it was powers who no longer had trust in one another,going against each other. -
Churchill's Iron Curtain Speech
Former British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill gave his speech at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri where rebuked the Soviet Unions policies in Europe. -
Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan, also known as The European Recovery Program was to aid Western Europe through the United States. The United States gave within $12 billion in economic support to help rebuild Western European economies after the damage of WWII. This reorganization of the European economies provided a more pleasant environment for American investment. -

The first international crises of the cold war, During the multinational occupation of post , World War II Germany, the Soviet Union blocked the Western Allies' railway, road, and canal access to the sectors of Berlin under Western control. -
NATO founded
NATO known as the North Atlantic Treaty Orginization also known as the North Atlantic Alliance. It is an intergovernment military alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty which was signed on April 4, 1949. This was important because it was a primary source to unify and strengthen the Western Allies. -

The Korean war began with when North Korea invaded South Korea. The United States aided South Korea, While China and the assistance of the Soviet Union came to aid North Korea. This period lasted from June 25, 1950 to July 27,1953 -

Julius Rosenberg and his wife Ethel were arrested in July 1950.They were arrested just a few weeks after the Korean War began The couple was accused for selling nuclear secrets to the Russians.The trial began in New York Southern District federal court and lasted at least a month. The couple was sentence to death. -

Republican, Dwight D. Eisenhower was elected president November 4, 1952. He carried the republican party to narrow control of the House and Senate. During his presidency, the cold war tension between America and the Soviet Union were higher than ever. -

There was a nation wide uprising against the central government of Hungary by it's people, they were reacting to Soviet imposed policies that had been implemented by the Hungarian rulers. The revolutionaries were surpresed, many were killed fighting for freedom. America never did not lend a helping hand -
Sputnick launched
On October 4,1957 the Russians launched the first artificial satelite successfully. This was the beginning of the race to space. The Russians had gone where no man had traveled. It was a small start in stacher as Sputnick was the size of a beach ball and weighed less than 200 pounds. -

ARPA, The Advanced Research Projects Agency was created in February 1958 was to develop space technology for the military, then a couple of months later in 1958 Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act, establishing NASA. -

The Berlin Wall separated East Berlin from West Berlin from 1961 to 1989. The wall started operating on August 13, 1961. This was the defining symbol of the Cold War and separated families and kept people from oppertunities in the West. -

The Cuban Missile crisis was a thirteen day confrontation between the United States and Russia. President Kennedy won this round and kept the soviets from having missiles in Cuba. -

Everyone remembers where they were when Kennedy was shot. November 22,1963 was a dark day in history. Shortly after noon in Dallas, Texas John F. Kennedy was shot and killed while riding in a caravan. This signaled the end of an era in American politics. Conspiracy theory still revolve around this event.
