    Churchill opposed and criticized communist government in his speech. He advocated for peace but stated war with the Soviet Union was inevitable.

    Allied nations fought among themselves to prevent the spread of communism across the world. The war was Capitalism vs Communism.

    Truman Doctrine
    President Harry Truman created this to combat the spreading of communist ideals. It provided military forces and economic growth to countries actively battling communism.

    Marshall Plan
    This document signed by George Marshall, gave 13 billion dollars to struggling countries. Europe was poor and struggling economically. America was afraid communism would sweep through the poor nations, so they paid to rebuild Europe.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    The Soviet Union blocked off all outside access to Berlin. All trade routes with outside materials were cut off as well. Airplanes dropped off supplies in the mass. Hundreds of airplanes dropped down to deliver to the isolated city.

    Because of the Berlin Airlift, Soviet government called off the blockade. The airlift destroyed everything they were trying to do. Outside access and supply lines were now available so they saw no reason to keep up the blockade.
