During this civil war Chinese nationalist were versing Chinese communists. The communist forces had more of a following and had a better chance of defeating the nationalists. During this war The USA did nothing. The war concluded with china falling communist. -
Yalta conference
The Yalta conference was a conference where it was agreed to let the USSR have control of Eastern Europe. At this meeting Stalin wanted a buffer between the USSR and Germany. This is due to the fact that other countries didn't want them to collaborate and let Communism spread. This than led to conflict with the USA.

Truman Doctrine
The Truman doctrine was the doctrine that stated that the US will lead the fight against communism. It was delivered by president Harry S Truman. He was worried that if he didn't write it that communism would spread to the USA.

Marshall Plan
The Marshall plan was created to help rebuild Europe. The Marshall Plan was a massive economic assistance . With the Marshall plan The USA gave Europe money in exchange for help stopping communism. Germany becomes two separate countries
In 1949 Germany formally split into two countries. In west Germany it was allied with the USA. In addition to being allied with the USA west Germany was democratic and capitalist. On the other side east Germany was a dictatorship allied with the USSR. -
NATO
The NATO also known as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization was led by the United States. This organization was designed to provide security for member nations. With NATO it was understood to have collective security. With collective security it means that if one nation is attacked all other nations will help protect. NATO also helps to stop Soviet growth into Western Europe. -

With the Korean War communist from the North invaded South Korea. In addition to this the UN force deployed in order to protect South. In conclusion after three years of fighting a settlement was reached. Lastly, an armistice was signed and the war was concluded without a peace treaty. -

This war began in 1954 between north Vietnamese and the french. The French defeated and the communist position took over all of Vietnam. Lastly the Americas joined in fear of the Domino Theory. -
Berlin Wall
The purpose of the Berlin Wall the USSR was trying to block other countries from the capital. This was he hope that the USA would give the city up. Although this was a great idea the USA responded to this by starting the Berlin Airlift. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban missile crisis was a dangerous and direct confrontation between the US and the USSR. It was a period of miscalculations and misinterpretations. The USA sent a letter to Khrushchev to announce that he was taking all missiles out of Cuba and he wanted the USSR to do the same.
