Creation of NATO

North Korea invaded South Korea. Truman was president at the time of this war. He had ordered navel and air support for South Korea. Republic Senator Robert Traft from ohio, was the only one who objected that truman was wrongly usuing congress's power to declare war. -
Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was very long and costly. Over 3 million people died during this war including 58,000 Americans. In 1973, President Richard Nixon ordered the withdrawal of the U.S. forces. -

the bay of pigs was a unsuccesfull military invasion of Cuba. Brigade 2506 intentions were to overthrow the revolutionary leftist government of president Osvaldo Dorticos Torrado. -
The Berlin Wall Goes Up
On August 14, in the morning, border police were ordered to fire warning shots and then to kill. The first 100 people who tryed to cross the wall, died that afternoon. -

This happened between the Soviet Union and Cuba on one side, and the United States on the other. The Cuban Missile Crisis was the closest the world ever came to a nuclear war. -

The Collapse of the Soviet Union occured on christmas and had collapsed as a victory for freedom. The promary causes were economic and political. They were the result of the culture of war. -
German Reunification/ Fall of Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall was created to divide West Berlin and East Germany. Also, it was created for symbolic boundary between democracy and communism during the cold war. The Berlin Wall stood until November 9, 1989. That night, crowdes od people surrounded the wall untill it didnt stand anymore.
