The Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan was a European Recovery Programme. This program help rebuild nations and countries the were destroyed during World War 2. This plan helped supply countries with food, machinery, and other necessary help. Marshell was worried that if he didn't help rebuild, europe would join the bandwagon and become communist. -

This was made to try to cut off access to west Germany. In May they realized the Blockade didn't work so they reopened the borders after thousands of pounds of coal was flown in. -
Creation of NATO
North Atlantic Treaty Organization. This treaty involved North America and Europe. The treaty stated that these two continents would protect eachother from the communist countries, including the Soviet Union, from trying to take over their countries. Moa claimed to lead the goverment that had 14 seperate political parites in the government. This then was lead by the Communist Party. The official of the Communist Party were then put in charge of the society in many different ways. Even the media was controlled by the party. -
The Korean War
North and South Korea had continous tension for the past couple years, but on June 25 that changed. The North finally acted on the tension and attacked south Korea. The UN steped in to help the south by sending in troups. 90% of those troops were american. These troops pushed north Korea all the way back to China. In 1953 they declared that the Korean War was over. -

While flying over cuba we realized that there had been Nuclear missles placed in cuba wich is only less 90 miles away from US land. The Soviet Union had placed these nuclear warheads hear to get a step up on the US. The US set up a blockade in international waters to stop this. The soviets removed the weapons as long as the US didn't invade Cuba. -

Also known as "Miracle on Ice" This is when the Russian hockey team was defated by the US. This was truely a miracle because the american team consisted of ametures and college players while the russian team consisted of professionals. This game really boosted american Morals. -

The soviet Union ended up seperating into 15 different countries. The soviet union seperated because the west got their victory and along with it freedom. This event had caused the cold war to end. The United States could finally relax because their enemyies were finally destroyed
