    The cold war is what we call a stand still war between the Communist Russians and Democratic Americans. There were little wars that were fought such as the Korean war, and Vietnam war. Sadly both of these wars were not American wins but it did help and show that communism isn't something you want your country to have.

    The Berlin airlift was when the Americans and western allies imposed the Berlin blockade by sending supplies by flying them into Berlin.

    The creation of NATO
    NATO is the alliance between most if not all western European countries and was formed to keep the communist regimes under control. NATO is still up and running today with America and England still the big leaders in it.

    The Korean war was a war between allied South Korea and America and Communist North Korea. This war has no winner to this day, all they signed was a ceasefire so the Korean war technically is still going today.

    Since the NATO was a pack formed by all democratic republics in western Europe all the socialist republics wanted to make an alliance between and the socialist republics in eastern Europe.

    The Vietnamese war was a war that the Americans got themselves involved in trying to limit the spread of communist beliefs in Vietnam and Asia, sadly we did not win this war. This war started in 1955 and ended in 1975

    Sputnik was the first satellite sent into space and the beginning of the space race between soviet Russia and the united states of america.

    The Berlin wall is the wall that the communist Russia built to keep its citizens from going over to the democratic eastern side of Berlin. This wall stayed up until the end of the cold war and it was a very dangerous place to be.

    The Cuban missile crisis was almost the beginning of the fighting in the cold war.Russia sent some of their nukes to Cuba because it was close to America and America sent nukes to Turkey because it was close to Russia. Luckily our great president JFK signed a paper for Russia to take their nukes out of Cuba10 and we will take our nukes out of turkey.

    This was the biggest and most important step in the space race. When American astronaut Neil Armstrong landed on the moon it showed that the Americans have won the space race once and for all.
