    Winston Churchill's Iron Curtain Speech
    In 1946, Winston Churchill made a speech where he said, "an iron curtain has descended across the continent" when referring to the divide of the democratic Western Europe and the Communist Eastern Europe. The phrase "iron curtain" became a symbol of the divide.     The Truman Doctrine
    The Truman Doctrine was a promise by the USA to support and join any fight against Communism. It was made after Great Britain announced that it couldn't protect the Mederterrnian any longer and the USSR was demanding control of the Dardanelles from Turkey.     The Berlin Airlift
    The Berlin Airlift was when the USA and Britain started to fly supplies into West Berlin since they didn't want to invade and start a war with the USSR. This happened for 372 days with planes taking off every few minutes around the clock. After 277,000 flights they had delivered 2.3 million tons of food, fuel, and medicine into West Berlin.
