    Berlin Airlift
    The Berlin Airlift ( June 24, 1948 ) The Russians closed all entry's into the city from western-occupied Germany into western-occupied Berlin. They believed it would be impossible for the people to get food supplies, and would drive the people out of the city. The U.S. and its allies supplied from the air, flying in 2.3 million tons of cargo for over a year. This prevented Russia from having control over Germany, and also the spread of communism.

    "New" Nation
    In the continent of Africa, independence began to begin starting with the country of Ghana. Ghana was the first African nation to gain liberty. After this, many attacks consisted involving the British, French, and Israel who were trying to take control of the canals in Egypt which nearly brough the Soviets into it. U.S. demands that the attacks end. Egypt President Nasser brings in Soviets to build a dam. Anwar Sadat expels Russians from Egypt giving them their independence.

    Warsaw Pact
    A mutual organization that puts the Soviets in command of the armed forces of the member states. Included the Soviets, Bulgaria, Romania, East Germany, Poland, Albania, and Czechoslovakia. Made so that the Soviets and its alliances could form a rival alliance against the NATO organization. Signed at the Presidential Palade in Warsaw, Poland. The Soviets wanted to make a better alliance than NATO. All member states forces were under leadership of Marshall Ivan S. Konev of the Soviet Union.

  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    A span of 2 weeks where the USA put nukes in turkey and in response the USSR placed nukes in Cuba because they felt threatened. It was the closet the world has ever came to nuclear war and during a 2 week span both side and the rest of the world were waiting to see who would strike first. It brought a lot of tension during the Cold War but could've made more damage.Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev agreed to remove the Soviet missiles, and war was averted.
