Berlin Airlift
The Soviet Union blocks off West berlin from all railroad lines, outside roards and access to anythign outside the city. So the United States and allies flew airplanes with suppplies into the city. -
NATO is fromed
NATO or North Atlanctic Treaty ogranzation was formed to unite countries against the USSR. It was primiarly Western Europe and North America. -
Korean War
US and UN forces fight the North Koreans backing up South Korea. North Korea was supported by the USSR. -
Sputnik
USSR laucnhes the first manned spaceshuttle into the atomsphere. Beating the US who thought they were so far ahead. -
Fidel Castro
Castro takes over Cuba and installs a communist governemnt. The USSR becomes friendly with him and station troops. -
Bay Pigs
The Bay of pigs was a failed invasion of cuba by the US led by JFK and an army of exciled cubans. The invasion was a wreck because the air support never came. -
Cuban missle crisis
The USSR delivers and sets up nuclear missles in Cuba aimed at the US. The United States responded by setting up missles in Turkey. -
US sends troops to Vietnam
The US sends troops to Vietnam to help the South Vietnam resistence. It was an uneeded action and costly. -
Vietnam crisis
South Vietnam falls to the North Vietnam forces after the US left. Vietnam became united under communism. -
US and China become friendly
The US and China put aside their differences and become friendly with another. The USSR feels betrayed by a fellow communist government.
