Berlin Airlift
The Russians were concerened by a unified Berlin which would be anti Soviet. Russia began a blockade of West Berlin. Russian planned to starve the western powers out of Berlin. Finding another way to re-provision the city seemed to the Allies to be the only reasonable response.

China Becomes Communist
The Chinese Communists joined the nationalists army in the northern expedition of 1926 to 1927. In 1945, the leaders of the Nationalist and Communist parties, Chiang Kai-shek and Mao Zedong, met for a series of talks on the formation of a post-war government. -
Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was the longest war in American history. It also was the most hated war. There were sixty thousand american deaths. We sent american troops to try to stop the spread of communism which was in North Vietnam. More than 500,000 US military personal were involved in Vietnam. This war affected the cold war by helping stop the spread of communism.

Soviet Launch Sputnik
The Soviets launched the first artificial space satelite ever launched into space. Americans were scared because they were the first to put something in space and they though the Soviets were more advanced then the US. The US pushed fast to send a satelite into space which started the space race. -
Bay of Pigs
Fidel Castro put his army into Havana and overthrew General Fulgencio Batista. The CIA tried to push Castro from power. In April 1961 the CIA launched a full scale invasion over Castro. The people that were helping take over Cuba were the people that were pushed out of their homes by Fidel Castro. The invasion did not go well and the invaders surrendered. -
The Berlin Wall Goes Up
The Berlin Wall was put up to dived east and west Germany. The wall was made out of concrete and barbed wire. The whole point of the wall was to keep the fascists out of east germany. The wall stayed up until November 9, 1989. It was one of the biggest symbols of the cold war. This played a big role in the cold war by because Berlin was the front line of combat. -
Cubin Missle Crisis
The Cuban Missle Crisis was also known as the October Crisis. This event was an intense political and military standoff that lasted 13 days. The two major leaders were J.F.K. and Fidel Castro. The US found that the Soviet Union was sending nuclear weapons over to Cuba secretly.
