In response to the Marshall Plan; The Soviet Union aided communist countries so that they would not take money from the US. This event can be categorized as psychological because it showed what Russia thought about the Marshall plan and how they reacted to it. -
Alliance Formed: NATO
(North Atlantic Treaty Organization) was a treaty formed with the US and most capitalistic countries and pledged to protect one another if ever attacked. This event can fit into the social category of the GASPIRE theme chart because it showed the communication between countries to create the treaty and to cover each others backs. -
Korean War
This was a battle between North and South Korea: North Korea was communist and aided by Russia, and South Korea was capitalist and aided by the US. This event is categorized as Political because it showed the battle between politics in the Eastern Asia when it used to be focused in Europe. -
The US modify Currency
Since the US viewed communism as anti-God, congress added "In God We Trust" into coins and currency. This shows Religion in the GASPIRE theme category because it showed the interactions that the US had with Russia regards its "atheist" beliefs. -
Yuri Gagarin
The Soviets sent the first man into space while competing with the US in the space race, this showed innovation and the advancement in human technology. This event showed innovation in the GASPIRE theme chart because it showed how Russia had revolutionized science and the success in the Space Race. -
Nuclear Tension
Russia send nuclear weapons to Cuba in a threat to the US, and the US is sent into a high-tension situation. This event can be placed in the geographic category from GASPIRE because due to Cuba's geographical location; Russia sent in weapons in a threat to the US. -
Neil Armstrong
The US(in response to Russia sending the first man into space) sent the first man to the moon. This event showed innovation because it led the US into another generation of technology and possibilities. -
The Olympics
The Russian basketball team defeated the US basketball team in the Olympics when the US were on a winning streak, this showed tensions of the Cold War outside of political, economic, and geographic terms. This event was Culture in GASPIRE because it showed the culture of both countries interacting in the olympics and competing. -
The Fall of the Berlin Wall
The citizens of Berlin tore down the Berlin Wall because the eastern side was not letting anyone in or out of the country, and the economy was bad. (Cultural) -
Threat removal
on April 8, 2010 Obama signed a treaty with Russia to end the threat on the nations great amount of weapons. This ended the threat that both nations had with nuclear weapons that were left from the Cold War. This fits into the Social category of GASPIRE because both countries had to socially make a treaty. -
