Creation of NATO
This is when a bunch of countries came together and created an organization called NATO. A couple of countries joined first and then later on Turkey, West Germany, and Greece. To this day now there are now up to 26 coutries that are a member of BATO. -
The Korean War
The korean war was a burtal war and the soviets ended up winning. We helped out south korea while the soviets and china were the nothern half and the ended up being a draw. Glad up it ended up being a draw because over 500 thousand american soilders were killed during the war. -
Creation of the Warsaw Pact
This was an organization that was created by the soviets and seven other countries. when they came together they wanted to find a way to stop how many wars there are a year. That is how the warsaw pact came along -
Vietnam War
It was a huge battle between communist and national forces and the communists ended up winning the war. The Vietnam War was a very brutal war with over 50 thousand Americans being killed. -
Bay of Pigs
We sent cuban exiles to try and overthrow Castro but we failed and we ended up coming back and finding another way to defeat Castro. The U.S. stopped getting the cuban sugar because of this. This was a way to bring peace between cuba and the U.S. -
Berlin Wall Goes Up
The soviets created this wall to keep the western and eastern half separated. When the wall was finally put up if the gaurds found anybody trying to escape they would be killed. Later on when the wall came down so many people were happy to family and friends again. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
the soviets were giving cuba missles and we agreed with the sdoviet union leader that if we take out the missles we would not invade cuba. When we finally got a hold of the cuban missles that the soviets were giving them we finally put a end to the cuban missle crisis. -
German Reunification/Fall of Berlin Wall
The built the berlin wall in the first place to keep the "fascists" of the western half and the eastern half separate from eachother. Then on that date of November 9, 1989 the wall came down. When the wall came down the eastern and western half of berlin were finally reunited once again. -
Collapse of the Soviet Union
A couple of days before the fall of the soviet union a couple of organizations came together and talked. They wanted the sovie union gone so that there can finally be some peace. On that day the soviet union finally fell and it got changed to Russia.
