Cloud Computing
Cloud services provide on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources, including network devices, servers, storage and applications that can be rapidly provisioned and released. More and more businesses are using cloud computing to back up their data and help save money. Rather than using traditional methods cloud computing can cost less and require less upkeep than traditional methods. -
Lesson 1 Review
Last Lesson we looked at the different advantages and disadvantages to used cloud services. We also went through the evolution of cloud computing and the different stages it went through to become what we know it as today. -
Lesson 2 Review
This week we focused on the different companies that host cloud services for consumers and business' such as Googles Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
We also discussed different cloud platforms as a service and what differentiates between services.
Then we learned about virtualisation and why it is key to cloud computing as it allows us to run virtual machines over the cloud. -
Lesson 2 Review
Last week we researched the different types of products "as a service". We also looked into virtualisation and hypervisors and how they work. -
Lesson 3 Review
This lesson we built a small basic network and then configured the IP addresses, this gave me a good insight into how networks over distances work.
We then researched the functions of 3 Networking tools, PuTTY, HyperTerminal and TeraTerm. -
Lesson 3 Review (2)
Last lesson we created a basic network in packet tracers and configured the IP addresses so that the computers were connected through the switches.
We also looked at terminal emulators such as PuTTY and TeraTerm these are often used to automate tasks related to remote connections initiated from the PC -
Lesson 4 Review
This lesson we learned about secure shell and created a packet tracer with a simple network and then implemented SSH to the network we built. I had a bit of trouble understanding the password system but managed to figure it out and enable ssh on the network. I clarified this by remote accessing the router and switch from a PC -
Lesson 4 Review (2)
Last week we were tasked with doing a lab in packet tracer which required us to build a simple network and implement Secure Shell (SSH) which enables you to connect remotely to a network from a computer. This allows you to modify networks over the internet without having to be at a physical terminal. -
Lesson 5 Review
Today we created a simple network and added a VPN to the network using the command line interface. I feel like i've learned alot about using the CLI and although the VPN didnt actually work at first i managed to get it working -
Lesson 6 Review
Today we did some binary decimal exercises where we took a decimal number and converted it to binary using our heads. I found this very useful as it helped me grasp the concept of binary and that you can reach any number using binary. We also discussed our cloud assignment. -
Lesson 7 Review
Today were introduced to the Cisco cloud course, so first we got orientated with how the course works, then i went through some of the basics such as what each level of cloud computing is called such as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. -
Lesson 7 Review(2)
Last week we started up the Cisco Cloud Collaboration module it is a course aimed to teach learners the basics of cloud computing, i got oriented with how the course would be presented then we watched videos and answered questions based on the different layers of cloud and the "as a service" model. -
Lesson 8 Review
This week i managed to finish the first full draft of my first assignment, i think it is a good start but probably needs more detail in certain areas. I think by doing this assignment i have expanded my knowledge but also cemented some of the fundamentals into my brain.
