  • Lincoln becomes the 16th president

    As Lincoln is sworn in to the presidency, seven southern states suceeded to form the confederacy.

  • Battle and fall of Ft Sumter

    At 4:30 AM, confederate forces opened fire on Ft. Sumter. After about a day of firing, Union forces surrendered.
    this marks the start of the American Civil War

  • First Battle of Bull Run

    The Battle of Bull Run or Battle of Manassas was the first true major battle of the civil war. it ended in a Union loss and proved to the USA that victory might be difficult.

  • The Battle of Fort Donelson

    The battle of Fort Donelson was a Union victory and it was a very easy battle. The Union surrounded Confederate forces in the fort and held them captive. Many of the confederates tried to escape, only few succeeded.

    The battle of Shiloh was a difficult battle which ended with a Union victory. It was the bloodiest of all the battles, 20,000 men died or were wounded during this battle.

    The battle of Shenandoah was an easy battle won by the Confederacy. It was a series of battles. Since the Confederacy knew the land better they were able to hide in the mountain sides and sneak up on the Union. The Confederacy captured over 2,000 Union men and 10,000 rifles.
