Abraham Lincoln issued Proclaimation 95, the Emancipation Proclaimation, on January 1st, 1863 to abolish slavery. -
Gettysburg
The battle of Gettysburg was a major turning point in the war. Gettysburg is in Pennsylvania. The battle was a Union Victory. It lasted from July 1st to July 3rd. -
Gettysburg Address
In Gettysburg, where a few months before, a battle had taken place, Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address, which is known for beginning "Four Score and Seven Years ago". -
