Proposed by Henry Clay. This compromise included California as a free state, Slave trade would bi illegal in Washington D.C. It also passed a Fugitive Slave Act which would imprison or fined anyone who helped an escaped African American. -

This act was proposed by Stephen A Douglas. This Act allowed the people who lived in Nebraska and Kansa to decide if they wanted to be a free state or a slave state. -

Dred Scott decision
Dred Scott got sold to a doctor who moved to the free states. Dred claimed to be free sense he was in free land. On March 6 1857 the court decided that Dred was not free. -
John Brown raid at Harper's ferry
John Brown gave African Americans federal arms in hope to rebel against the slave owners. -

Lincoln was elected the 16th President. A fun Fact is Lincoln's name was not even on the ballot in the south. -

This battle was know as the Battle of Manassas for the South. This was the first major battle of the Civil War. -

The battle ended on June 3rd. The Union won this battle. -
Sherman's March to the sea began
This battle ended on December 21st. In this battle Sherman led 60,000 soldiers on a 285 mile walk. The purpose was to scare Georgia civilians. -

Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrender to Union General Ulysses S. Grant. -
Lincoln was assassinated
Lincoln was killed when he was watching a play at Ford's Theater.
