15th Amendment
The 15th Amendment gave African Americans the right to vote. -
Tuskegee Institute created
An all black school in the town of Tuskegee -
Plessy v Ferguson
This case started the whole separate but equal clause. -
NAACP created
This was an association for the advancement of colored people that was set on getting justice. -
19th Amendment
Gave everyone the right to vote no matter what gender you were. -
Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) proposed
Gave everyone the same rights under the law no matter of what sex you were. -
Executive Order 9981
abolished discrimination based on race so you can no longer decline someone access because of there race. -
Brown v. Board of Education
established race segregation in schools and made it not allowed to decline entry to a school because of race. -
Montgomery Bus Boycott
was a civil rights protest where African Americans did not ride any buses in order to protest the segregated seating. -
Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) formed
The SCLC is a african american civil rights orgication and was founded by Martin Luther King Jr. -

Civil rights activists who rode buses into the southern (racist) side of the United States. -
24th Amendment
Prohibits both congress and the united states from limiting ones right to vote. -
Dr. King’s: “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”
Was a letter written while by Martin Luther King Jr, while he had been imprisoned for fighting for equality. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
Prohibits the discriminations in its entirety including race, color, religion, or sex. -
March from Selma, Alabama
3 protests marches in Alabama, a still racist state. They marched 54 miles from Selma to Montgomery. -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
Outlawed discriminatory voting acts in all southern states after the civil war. -
Black Panthers
Was a african american party originally made for self defense but it was made to violently protest african american rights.
