The Battle of Fort Sumter was the first battle to break out. The Conferacy was surprised as the Union was firing from water (Charleston Harbor) in Sumter, South Carolina. There was steady firing all day, but the Union shot less to save ammunition. On April 13th at 2:30, the Anderson Garrison (the Union's General) surrendered to General P.G.T. There were no deaths during this battle.
