    Abraham Lincoln known as honest Abe was elected president of the United States of America on November 6 1860. Abraham Lincoln was the first rebublican elected as US president. Abraham Lincoln wanted the United States to stay joined which is why he fougth in the civil war.
  • Texas Secedes from the Union

    Texas was the 7th state to seced from the Union. When the Texas goverment voted it was 166 to 8 in favor of seceding.
  • Houston is Kicked out of Office

    Houston is Kicked out of Office
    Sam Houston was kicked out of office after Texas secede from the Union because he did not want Texas to Secede from the Union. Since the Civil War was about to begin Sam knew that Texas ahd no chance of winning because teh Union was much stronger.
  • Battle at Fort Sumter

    The battle of Fort Sumter was teh first battle in the Civil War. Fort Sumter is near Charleston, South Carolina. The battle started when South Carolina demanded the U.S. Amry to leave the fort.
  • Battle of Galveston

    The Battle of Galvestion was in Galveston, Texas. After the battle Galveston was the only major port left that the Confederiates had.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    The Battle of Gettysburg was a three day battle, from July 1, 1863 to July 3, 1863. The Battle of Gettysburg is a very famous battle because of the length in time it took and the number of people who died during the battle. After the battle Abraham Lincoln read his Gettysburg adress.

    The Sabine Pass was an attempt to invade and occupy Texas. Even though the Battle of Sabine Pass was insigificant to the Civil War it was a way for the confederate soilders to be honorded.
  • Red River Campaign

    The Red River campaign was during March 10, 1864 to May 22, 1864. The Red River Campaign was a series of battles fought along the Red River. Again this war did not have a huge impact on the Civil War.
  • End of Civil War

    End of Civil War
    "It would be useless and therefore cruel, to provoke the further more effusions of blood," Confederate General Robert E. Lee. On April 9, 1865 Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant ending the Civil War.
  • Battle of Palmito Ranch

    Battle of Palmito Ranch
    More then a month after the surrender of Robert E. Lee was the Battle of Palmito Ranch. The Union Army had briefly occupied Brownsville during the Civil War. So Union Lieutenant colonel David Bransonwanted to attakc the confederates in the nearby White and Palmito Ranch which lead to the Battle of Palmito Ranch.
  • Juneteenth

    Juneteenth
    Juneteenth is a well know celebration commemorating the end of slavery. On June 19, 1865 the Union soliders landed in Galvestion and were told that the war was over and that the enslaved were free.
  • Reconstruction Ends

    During 1876 there was an election held for the new president and Rutherford B. Hayes won. All federal troops were ordered to leave the southern states.
