Battle of Fort Sumter
This battle took place because the North would not move their troops from a Southern Fort and the South became angry and decided to attack. And the South basically gained control of that area. -
Lincolns Blockade
Blocked all Southern ports to basically take off another way they could get imports and it made it harder for them to get resources to their troops. -
1st Battle of Bull Run
Proved that the War would not be fought on just one side of the U.S and it only lasted 5 hours and also basically made the Union retreat but "Stonewall" Jackson one of the Generals stood his ground and didn't flea. This battle occured in Prince William County, VA -
Battle of Hamptons Roads
Took place near Richmond, Virginia and was one of the first to use Naval Warfare and it had soon started a new era of battle. -
Battle of Iron Clads
This started a new era of using Iron Clads on ships in battle. -
Battle of Shiloh
The Confederates had attacked the vulnerable Union but the Union unaware of what was happening or going on had counter attacked and had still won the battle. -
7 Days Campaign
Confederates attacked and soon won territory back that they had previously lost. They had fought for several days. The Union was attacked for several days and they had lost a ton of land that they had just won. -
2nd Battle of Bull Run
This Battle had ended the Unions Treaty in Virgina when General Jackson drove General Pope out of Virgina. -
Battle of Tietam
This Battle was fought along the Tietam River and was won by the Union but in the end the Union had lost over 12,000 men. And it showed the Norths strength. -
Emancipation Proclomation
This Executive order passed by Lincoln was set to abolish slavery and to free all slaves in the North. -
Emancipation Takes Effect
Lincoln had freed over 50,000 slaves because of this Law that was passed. -
Battle of Chancellorville
Took place from April 30th to May 6th and was known as General Lees greatest victory because it was fought on unfair terms. -
Battle of Gettysburg
The Union and the Confederates ran into eachother and basically started the battle in Gettysburg, PA. -
Battle of Vicksburg
This battle had helped the North by after winning this battle they then had control of the whole mississippi river area and they could then control all major ports on the river and take away another advantage of the South. -

He was brought up during the Civil War and soon became one of the greatest Generals in the United States history. And was brought up on Oct, 3, 1863 -
Gettysburg Address
This was speech given by President Lincoln to basically raise the spirit of his troops and give them support and also show that the troops that had died did not die without a great cause. -
Battle of Chattanooga
It was a series of battles that had led Grant to some of the greatest victories in the war. -
Re-election of Lincoln
Lincoln had been chosen for a second term in Presidential Office and we had a leader who was experienced in almost all aspects that a president would need to have. -
Battle of Atlanta
This was a march from Atlanta to the sea and on their way to the sea they had burned everything in their way and in their reach. -

Troops had marched to Atlanta and had burned everything within 60 miles. -

Sherman had taken over Savannah falls to gain territory back. -
The 13th Amendment passed
The 13th Amendment was the amendment that abolished slavery; destroyed the souths purpose of fighting in the Civil War. -

This Amendment had completely abolished slavery throughout the states and had basically killed slavery everywhere. And had showed everyone that the North had taken charge. -
Union Takes Over Richmond, VA
The Union had taken over an already occupied city even though the war was basically over. -
Surrender of Appommattox Courthouse
This was the LAST battle of the Civil War and the South had surrendered to the North. And soon the Generals had met and had a meeting about having an agreement between the South and the North. -
The End of the Civil War
The last group of General Lees men had finally given up and at that point all the slaves in the South had been freed. -
Lincoln is Killed
Lincoln is killed by a famous actor John Wilkes Booth. He was killed while watching a play and he was unaware of his soon and upcoming death. This day was the day of the death of one of Americas great leaders.
