In Feb. 1861 Texas join the confederate states. This makes the south have significantly more land and a bit more power for the war. -
Houston Kicked Out of Office
Sam Houston know that the south will lose so he quits when they leave the US. The new govenor made it illegal to set a slave free. -
Battle of Fort Sumter
The Confederacy won. This was important because it was the first battle and the Confederacy started the battle. -
Battle of Galveston
The Confederacy won. Galveston remained in confedrate control. It also gave confederates more confidence. -
Battle of Gettysburg
The Union won. This fight was to defend three hills that are strategic positions. This was an important battle because there was so many casullities the sides of the war where both scared. -
Battle of Sabine Pass
The Confederacy won. They were guarding a railroad that lead into the middle of texas. If the union won they would have taken over texas. This battle meant the union had to try a different tattic to take texas. There was no confederate deaths. -

Confederacy Won. For the union the wanted to defeat the confederates and steal lots of cotton from plantations. The Union also wanted to make a pro-government in the area. The confederates only had to defend. This battle defended cotton plantations and stopped the union. -

The Union Won the civil war and made it illegal to have slaves still, there was discrimination in the south. -
Battle of Palmito Ranch
The union army leader ordered an attack for an unknown reason after a faulty truce. The confederates pushed them back and won. This battle is known as the final battle in the civil war. -
Juneteenth
Juneteenth is a holiday for when slavery was abolished making it illegal to own a slave. -

This is when blacks gained the right to vote. It caused an uproar in the south where secret orginazitions had whites with only the power still.
