    Election of Lincoln
    When Lincoln lost in the senate, he spent the next couple of months laying the foundation of his election by traveling and giving speeches, but even that wouldnt have been enough if the democratic party wasn't split in half. In the end he won with 180 electoral votes and 1,865,593 popular votes. This effected the Civil War because Lincoln was the last straw to the south and made them think it was time for change.

    On Febuary 1, Texans met in Austin and voted 166 to 7 for succesion. They were the 7th state to leave the union. It influced the Civil war because it encourraged more states to leave the Union and made the Confederacy more powerful.

    What lead to Houston getting kicked our of office was him opposing succession. He told Texas that the war would end in a northern vicrory and in the end he was right. This effected the civil because then texas join the confederacy.

    Brig Gen was in charge of the union forces when he refused to surrenderd to the confedaracy. He gave up fort summeter when he was out of supplies. This effeccted the civil war because it was a victory to the confederacy and they won another fort.

    Galveston was the biggest seaport in Texas so the Union made a blockade. Thats when blockade running became popular using small fishing boats mostly sneaking soilders and supplies past the blockades. This effected the civil war by limiting the amount of supplies the confederacy could bring their troops.

    3 July ,1863 : In three days, total casualties rose to over 6,000 dead and more than 45,000 wounded and missing—the largest number for any Civil War battle. Also it's one of the most famous battles in the civil war. This affected the cilil war because it was the turrning point in the civil war.

    There were 44 men that forcved the union foltittla to retire and captured the gun boat cliffton and took 200 prisionors. This effeted the cilvil war necause it angerd the union

    May 22 : The Red River campain was the last decisive confederate victory. It was also the largest combined navy-army opperation of the war. This effected the civil war because it was one of the major turining points in the war.

    The end of the civil war was the end to the 4 bloodiest years in US history. Lincoln only got to taste his success for 6 days before he was assasinated. This effected the civil war because it was the end of the civil war

    This was the last land action in the civil war. It's also considerd the last battle and was fought near Brownsville. This effected the Civil War because the union finally pulled through and won.

    Is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Its orgin is Galveston. This didnt effect the civil war because it was affter the Civil war ended but its commemorate what we won as a nation.

    This is when the federal goverment allowed the southern states back into the Union. This effected the civil war by bringing the country back together.
