Dred Scott Decision
This decision gave slave owners the right to bring slaves to the west. Scotts master from missouri took scott to illinois and wisconsin (free states). After his master died he sued for freedom, the supreme court said he was not a citizen and therefore did not have the grounds on which to sue. He remained a slave -
