This battle took place in Galveston Texas. The significance of the battle’s location was that the port could provide resources that could help whoever had control over it. Commander William B. Renshaw, Col. Joseph J. Cook, Maj. Gen. John Bankhead Magruder, and Col. Thomas Green were all men who were involved in the battle.The outcome of the battle was the South gained control of the port for the rest of the war. The port provided the Confederacy resources instead of the Union. -
Battle of Sabine Pass
The battle took place near what is now Beaumont. The location of the battle was too narrow to let in the Union's war ships which was a part of their downfall during the battle. the Confederacy, the Union,
and Jefferson Davis were all involved in the battle. In the end the Confederacy took over Sabine Pass. The loss kept the Union from crushing the South’s economy. -
Battle of Palmito Ranch
The battle took place near what is now Brownsville. The battle’s location affected the timing and strategies of each force. Union Col. Theodore H. Barrett, Lt. Col. David Branson, and Col. John S. “Rip” Ford were all people who were involved in the battle.The Confederacy caused the Union to retreat which ended the last battle of the Civil war.
