  • Compromise Of 1850

    Senate Henry Clay introduced a compromise bill on slavery that included admissioning California into the union and allowed west states to vote on slavery when applying for a state.

  • KansasNebraska Act 1854

    The Kansas Nebraska act allowed people living in the states of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery within their borders.

  • KKK

    The KKK was a secret society that was organized in Tennessee after the civil war.The KKK were very racist white men who dressed in white robs and head dresses. The Klu Klux Klan killed blacks and also returned them to plantations.

  • Fort Pulaski

    In January the Union commander, Sherman wanted to take the fort by siege. Fort Pulaski in 1862 Captain Gilmore took over the fort and the union succeeded.

  • Battle Of Gettysburg 1863

    The battle of Gettysburg was known to be the most bloodiest battle. Confederate general Robert E. Lee launched his second invasion of Northern territory but after three days of fighting he lost the battle and an estimation 51000 soldiers were killed, captured or deemed missing after the war.

  • Freedmens Bureau

    In March 1865 the U.S. Congress created the Freedmans Bureau. the freedmans bureau helped slaves that were transitioning to freedmen. it ceased its work in 1870.
