Bleeding Kansas
Congress dived NebraskaTerritory in to Kansas and Nebraska. They took voted to decide they are slave state or free state. It was against the Missouri Compromise and it allowed slavery to expand. People from 2 side flock Kansas to outnumber the other.

Abraham Lincoln was elected
Lincoln was elected to be President and he is against slavery which make the slave states really worry and mad.

The South Secede
South Caroline is the first state to secede from the Union and other 6 slave states follow it. They form a new nation called Confederate States of America. -
The war begins at Fort Sumter
When Fort Sumter ran out of supplies, Lincoln sent food to the fort, but Confederate took the supplies before it could reach to the fort. Confederate's troops told the Union's troops to give up the fort. When the commander refused, they fired the troop.
