  • Battle of Galveston

    The Battle of Galveston was caused because the Union troops were trying to form a blockade on all of the Confederate's ports. The port at Galveston Harbor, Texas was one of them. However, the Confederates defended well and won the battle. Galveston Harbor remained one of the only ports for the Confederates at the end of the war.
  • Battle of Sabine Pass

    The Confederates had experienced many losses. So when the Union troops came to Sabine Pass on the Sabine River to form a blockade, the Southerners needed a victory. Against all odds, they were able to hold off the Union and win the Battle of Sabine Pass. This gave them a morale boost and helped them get through the war.
  • Battle of Palmito Ranch

    The Battle of Palmito Ranch was the last battle of the American Civil War. It was fought in Cameron County, Texas. Soon after the battle ended, word came that the Confederates had surrendered in Virginia.
