  • Dred Scott V. Sandford

    Dred Scott V. Sandford
    Black people could not be American citizens and could not sue in court. It also ruled that slaves were property and that slave owners could not be deprived their property under the constitution.
  • 13th Amendment

    the 13th abolished slavery in America. freeing millions of slaves following the end of the civil war.
  • 14th Amendment

    14th Amendment
    This amendment made it so any person born within the United States would be granted citizenship, along with giving them equal protection of laws.
  • 15th Amendment

    This allowed African American men the ability vote and run for office.
