Louisiana had a law that African-Americans and whites must take separate railway cars. Homer Adolph Plessy went on a white railway car and refused to move, he was arrested.

Emmett TIll Murder

Aug 24, 1955

Fourteen-year-old Emmett Till in Money, Mississippi went to a grocery store and was accused of flirting with a white cashier. 4 days later, Emmett was kidnapped, beaten and shot by 2 white men. The jury acquitted them..

9 African- american students from Little Rock are chosen to go to Central High School. Governor Faubus didnt want the 9 students to attend Central High School so he made the National Guard Surround the school to prevent them from attending. From that, president Eisenhower got the 101st Airborne Division to protect the students.
