13th Amendment
This amendment abolished slavery in the united states. Meaning nobody could own an african american. Many people hated this and still tried to own slaves. -
14th Amendment
the 14th amendment gives citizenship to all people who are born in the united states. This includes all former slaves in the U.S. some thought it was unfair. -
15th Amendment
This amendment makes it illegal to deny the right to vote to anyone. People used to not let African Americans or women vote or if you were poor. So this amendment let everyone vote. -
Plessy vs. Ferguson
it was a U.S supreme court case about wanted to pass laws to allow segregation. They wanted to be segregated in schools, private places, bathrooms, and transportation ways. Made it "separate05 but equal". -

it was an organization to provide justice for african americans. This organization wanted to fight for the rights that were taken away. It has helped many people -
19th Amendment
This is a very important amendment. it gave women the right to vote. it also unified the suffrage laws across the U.S -
Brown vs. Board of education
It was a supreme court case where the court declared state laws. It made it illegal to have separate schools for whites and blacks. It helped end segregation in a way. ended in 1954. -
Montgomery Bus Boycott
It was a political protest campaign against racial segregation. It was on a public transport system in montgomery alabama. Rosa parks had refused to give up her seat on the bus for a white person. -
MLK jr. speech
Martin luther king jr made a speech about ending segregation. He was unfortunately assassinated. He helped many people. -
Civil rights Act
it outlaws discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. It pretty much made any type of segregation illegal. Many people opposed to this and said it was unlawful. -
Malcolm X Assassination
he was assassinated while delivering a speech in Harlem. he was a minister and a human rights activist. he also served for the nation of Islam during the 1950s and 60s -
Voting Rights Act
It made any type of test before voting illegal. For example, the literacy test was used for African Americans to make it impossible for them to vote. After this was passed everyone was able to vote with minimal problems. -
Loving v. Virginia
it is a landmark civil right decision that made it legal to have an interracial marriage. He was trying to fight so he could marry an African American woman. In the end he won and helped many people throughout the united states. -
MLK jr. assassination
he was assassinated in Memphis Tennessee after giving his famous "I have a dream" speech. He was assassinated on his hotel balcony. This assassination led to many accomplishments for the African American society. -
Equal rights amendment
this amendment gave equal rights to all races and sex. Men and women black and white were now seen as one. Some people had a hard time adjusting to all of it but in the end they were able to bring us to where we are today as a society.
