    A case that the supreme court handled in 1954 where they ruled the seperations of white and black schools to be unconstitutional. The descion was that all schools that did not de-segregate would lose their funds
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Montgomery  Bus Boycott
    The Montgomery Bus Boycott started December 1, 1955 and lasted untill December 20, 1956. The Boycott started becase of a historical icon Rosa Park refused to give up her seat to a white man. She was arrested an taken to jail. Four days later they had a boycott where they refused to ride the montgomery buses for a year. The boycott was led by Martin Luther King Jr.

    The goal of the SCLC was to fix America throgh un violent protest. The formation of the group was because of the Montgomery bus boycott. The leaders that led the group were Martin Luther King Jr., Joseph Lowery, Fred Shuttlesworth, Bayard Rustin, and Ralph Abemathy.

    SNCC
    The SNCC was founded to give blacks a voice in the civil rights movement. The group had a large part in the freedom rides. Thatv was aimed at desegregating buses and the marches led by Martin Luther King Jr. In 1966 Stokely Carmichael was elected the leaderof the group.

    Freedom Riders
    Freedom riders were the civil right activist or leaders, that would ride into segregated towns to try and fight not with violence but with words and signs or protest segregation. Civil rights activist were the mains ones that participated in the events but there were also leaders and people who felt that segregation was wrong and they should stop it

    The albany movement was formed in 1961 by the SNCC and the NAACP to fight for desegregation.

    March on Washington
    Was a march in washington that was fighting for freedom and jobs. It is one of the largest rallies for freedom. The goal was to fight for freedom. The leader was Martin Luther King Jr.

    The civil rights act of 1964 was the act that ended public segregation and discrimination. The act was brought apon by John F Kennedy and signed into law by Lyndon B Johnson.

    The voting rights of 1965 was singned by President Johnson on August 6, 1965. The act was suppose to prevent the federal government from stopping blacks from voting under the 15 admendent.

    Martin Luther King Jr was a civil rights activist and also a minister who always believed in having rights no matter your etnicity or the color of your skin. He always fought with words and never violence. He took part in many movements and acts to help fight for our rights and he never once lifted a hand to hit anybody no matter how hard the times were.In the civil rights movement he fought for blacks to have their freedom and to be de- segregated. On April 4, 1968 he was assassinated
