Dred Scott v sandford
Dred Scott was bought by a man and when that man died he left scott to his wife. When scott wanted to buy his freedom and she refused and that is when he sued. They he was sued by the wifes brother and that is when the court said that people from Africa could not be sued because they were not american citizens. -
13th Amendment
so they 13th amendment abolishs slavery which means it outlaws slavery completely and slavery or anything like it is against the law. -
14th Amendment
the 14th amendment granted citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United State. this meant that former slaves were us citizens and this was passed to help the 13th amendment to abolish slavery. -
15th amendment
this protects the american voter rights and says that no one can be dined to vote in a election. also saying that Any American cannot be denied the right to vote, based on race, color, or being a former slave. -
Plessy v. Ferguson
The court ruled that segregation was legal but they had to be equal in protection. -
19th Amendment
The 19th amendment said that The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. This meant that women had the right to vote which was very big and still is very significant -
Brown v. Board of Education
This was a very big case and this is when the court ruled that racial segregation was unconstitutional in schools and it schools that were equal -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
The Civil rights act of 1964 bans discrimination of five different areas. race, color, religion, sex or national origin. This has been changed and now they can discriminate when hiring, promoting, or firing. -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
It made discriminatory voting test like literacy test illegal which was mainly adopted in the south -
Reed v Reed
the court said that a administrator of a estate can not be named in a way to discriminate women. -
Title IX
Title IX says that exclusion and discrimination based on that persons sex is illegal -

Americans with Disabilities Act
The Americans with disabilities act makes it illegal to discriminate against disable people in public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. -

This was a land mark case that legalized gay marriage under dew process.
