March in Birmingham
Martin Luther King made a noble decision to join the reverend Fred Shuttlesworth in a civil rights campaign, King was arrested and put in jail for about a week. -
March On Washington
This march for freedom of people of color was an eye opener for Kennedy. It put all the pressure on him to create a stronger and more stable law encouraging their rights. -
The Civil Rights Act
When Johnson was forced to step up after Kennedy's assassination, he wanted to build up what Kennedy left behind as far as the Civil rights went. -
The Voting Rights Act of 1965
This permitted federal officers to allow African Americans to vote where they weren't allowed to. -
The Selma March
This was brought on because of the unfair voting rights. This march created violence which forced Johnson to send Military people to protect the marchers.
