Brown V. Board
The U.S. supreme court ruled in the favor of the NAACP for the end of segregation in public schooling. This marked a tremendous step in the civil rights movement and showed that the supreme court could be challenged. -

The Sit Ins
The sit ins were a peaceful protest all about disruption. Students went and sat at places for hours refusing to move, so that they could bring disruption to daily lives of many, while still being peaceful. They were able to bring a lot of attention to the movement by doing this. -

The Freedom Rides
People travelled by bus through the southern states to see what kind of resistance they would be met with. They travelled fairly easily through most states, but when they went through Alabama they were terrorized. On November 1st, 1961 there was a law put into place outlawing all segregation of interstate travellers.
