13th Amendment
This amendment abolished slavery in the new states and involuntary servitude. This means slavery was now illegal and you could not work for someone as a slave unless you were punished. -
14th Amendment
This stated that everyone born in the United States is a citizen regardless of which state and of parents origin of birth. -
15th Amendment
Gives citizens the right to vote. No citizen regardless of color or race or religion shall be denied voting rights. This also refers to old slaves. They have this right as well. -
Plessey vs. Ferguson
The court case that found separate but equal facilities unconstitutional. Desegregated these facilities and caused the USA to crack down on racial discrimination. A man who was 1/8th black and 7/8th white took a seat in a white car on a train and was asked to leave. -
NAACP
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. This organization was created for that reason to help in the advancement of rights to colored people. The mission of this was to ensure equal rights to all people no matter what color or race. -
19th Amendment
This amendment gave women the right to vote. It opened doors to women rights and gave them far more power than they've ever had before. -

The court case that declared separate schooling for blacks and whites unconstitutional. It went against the 14th amendment is what the court unanimously declared. ( wouldn't let me put picture) -

Montgomery Bus Boycott
It was a political protest against racial segregation in public transportation. Many people boycotted the buses in Montgomery due to the fact that they still had separate seating and would not desegregate. -
MLK "I have a dream" speech
Martin Luther King jr gave a speech during the march on Washington where he called for the end of segregation and talked about his dream of freedom for him and all other citizens. -
Civil Rights act of 1964
The civil rights act of 1964 outlawed all discrimination based on religion, sex, race, and origin. It also reinforced voters rights and equal facilities. -
Malcolm X Assasination
Malcolm X was a civil rights activist who spoke on black rights in America. He was assassinated on 02/21/1965 in Washington Heights New York. -
Voting rights act
The voting rights act was established to prohibit any racial discrimination on voting in the United states. -
Loving v Virginia
Court case brought to the supreme court that struck down on interracial marriage allowing for it to happen. -
MLK assassination
The civil rights leader was killed in a Memphis hotel in February of 1968. He was more than likely killed due to his abundant presence in the civil rights movement. -
Equal Rights Amendment
Created to prohibit any discrimination and to allow rights to all no matter what sex, religion, and race.
