    2. The vote was 9-0 unamious
    3. Linda brown who had a 2 commute to go to black school, where a white school blocks away 3, it is a great decision, however there was a lot of violence after the ruling
  • Murder of Emmett Till

    Murder of Emmett Till
    1. 14 year old boy from Chicago, visiting family in Missisippi.
    2. Accused of whisteling at a white woman
    3. Roy Bryant and Jw Milan kidnap,beat,shot,killed and then threw Emmett's body in the river
    4. Maime Till, Emmett's mother had an open casket funeral
    5. Both men stood trail, and found not guilty *Spark to start the Civil Rights movement

    2. Rosa refused to move; she was arrested
    3. December 5th, a boycott of buses will last 381 days
    4. Nonviolent protest to start more civil rights movement

    2. 9 students were vetted to undergo this test
    3. Airbirn 101 escorted students closed (1958)
    4. Following year, all public schools closed (1958)
    5. August 29th 1957 schools reopened

    4 college students sat down at a lunch counter at Wodworths to be served. They were refused service. Continued to “Sit it” and others joined, the protest spread to other towns forced change.

    March on Washington for jobs and freedom was to advocate for the civil and economic rights of African Americans. 250,000 people were in attendance at the Lincoln Memorial. MLK was the last to speak, and his "I have a dream speech" 70-80% of Marchers were. It helped to pass the Civil Rights Acts of 1964

    March on Selma/Bloody Sunday
    600 students March from Selma to Montgomery,Alabama to get the right to vote. They walked 54 miles and were stopped at the bridge. Seen on national television. LBJ order the passage of 1965 voting rights law. 2nd March took place March 21-24 with 25,000 Marchers including MLK
