It abolished slavery except as a punishment of a crime. -

Granted citizenship rights and equlal protection for the issues of former slaves as well as landmarks, and abortion. -

Made it available for everyone to vote. Making it illegal to deny someone to vote based on race, color or previous servitude. -

Sweatt was refused admission to the school of law of the unvierisity of texas. At the time no school in texas would admit african american students. -
Brown v. board of education
Seperate schools for blacks and whites became unconstitutional. -
Montgomery bus boycott
An african women wouldn't give up her seat on the bus, Alabama and montgomery ruled segregation on busses unconstituitional. -
Ruby bridges
First black child to attend an all white school, William Frantz Elementary School. -
Affirmative action
Positive discrimination and employment equality. -
24th amendment
Prohibited poll taxes, which made it almost impossible for african americans to vote. Poll taxes were ruled unconstitiutional. -
Civil rights act of 1964
Outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex. or origin. -
Voting rights act of 1965
Made racial discrimination illegal in voting, especially in the south. -
Poll taxes
Everyone had to pay a tax fee which made it difficult for african americans to vote since they couldn't pay the tax. It was declared unconstitutional. -
Loving v. virginia
Racial integrity act of 1924 was ruled unconstitutional. -

Instead of campaining for himself he talked about peace for martin luther king jr. -

Admin of estates could not discriminate against certain sexes. -

Bakke wasn't admitted to univerisity of california twice. Court ruled that bakke be admitted. -

Right to privacy for two concenting homosexuals to have sex, was ruled illegal. -

Prohibits discrimination based on disability. Also reqiures employers to provide reasonable accomodations to employees with disabilities. -

Fisher v. texas
Fisher wasn't acceted into a college, the court ruled they had to change their admission policy. -
Indiana's gay rights
Ruled unconstitutional by local courts, going to be in the supreme court not to long from now to make the final decision on wether or not gays can marry.
