The council of trent was held between 1545 and 1563 in Trento. The council forbade many corrupt practices among priest, bishops and cardinals. The Council passed a law saying that all clerics must reside in their posts, thus correcting priests, bishops or abbots who never spent any time in their parishes, dioceses or abbeys, but paid
others to look after them while taking the profit. -
