  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The troops were sent to collect weapons. The Americans won this battle, this was because of the fact that more British Soldiers died over the American Soldiers. It was the true start of the American Revolutionary War.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    It was also a key turning point of the war. This acknowledge the colonists had the upper hand over the French of winning the war. The French declared war on the British.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    The British surrendered at Yorktown. It began on Sept. 28th and ended on Oct. 19th. By surrendering it caused the American Revolution to cease.
  • Northwest Ordinance

    It led to the signing of The Treaty of Paris. It ended the American Revolutionary War. It set the precedent for how new states enter the Union.
  • Virginia and Kentucky Resoultions

    James Madison wrote the Virginia Resolutions. They were drafted in 1798-1799. They were known as political statements.
  • Alien and Sedition Act

    The president put people in prison who appealed to be dangerous. This took freedom away from the people. The immigrants had it harder now because of the act.
  • Lousiana Purchase

    The US now had control of he Mississippi River. The US got it from France. It was a land deal.
  • Marbury v. Madison

    It was written by John Marshall. The supreme court reviewed the act of congress. It declared power of the Judicial review.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    John Quincy Adams wrote the Monroe Doctrine. The European was influencing America so they put in a plan to stop that. They wanted the European and the Western Territory to be separated.
  • Nullification Crisis

    The Southerners did not like the taxes so they protested against them. The protective tariffs is what caused the Nullification crisis. The Nullification crisis was a sectional crisis.
  • Texas Annexation

    It led to the Mexican War. Texas had now gained independence from Mexico. Tension built up between the two countries the US and Mexico.
  • Oregon Treaty

    It was headlined as "54,40 degree or Fight". The treaty granted the US control of the South of the 49th parallel avoiding war. It was between the United Kingdom and the US.
  • Mexican Cession

    It made up the Southwestern US. It completed manifest destiny by giving America control of the land. It refers to the lands surrendered to the US.
  • Compromise of 1850

    It admitted California as a free state. It also abolished slave trade in Washington. They wanted popular sovereignty within the Mexican Cession.
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    It allowed people to decide whether they wanted slavery or not within their boarders. It established the Kansas and Nebraska territories. It became a law on May 30th
  • Bleeding Bloody Kansas

    It was a debate on slavery and anti slavery. It took place within the Kansas Territory. It turned out to be a violent debate.
  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    This battle located in Charleston, SC. The US Army surrendered. The leaders of this battle was General PGT Beauregard.
  • Battle of Bull Run

    The Union troops had the upper hand in the beginning of the battle. This caused the confederacy to go to triumph. This battle had a negative impact on the Union troops. The Battle of Bull Run was the first major battle of the American Civil War.
  • Battle of Antietam

    It was known as the "Single bloodiest Day". It resulted in strategic union victory. It provided a way for the Emancipation Proclamation to be delivered.
  • Emmancipation Proclamtion

    This DID NOT FREE ALL Slaves. However it did allow slaves to fight with the Union. It only declared freedom of slaves within the states who were in rebellion.
  • Gettysburg Address

    This battle took place in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. Abraham Lincoln dedicated a cemetery for the fallen soldiers. It was a speech spoken by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War.
  • Battle of Vicksburg

    Abraham Lincoln believed that this may be the key ending of the war. This battle took place during the Civil War. The surrender caused a split in the confederacy in two.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    This battle stopped the second invasion of the North. This battle eliminated General Lee's men. General E. Lee retreated Virginia.
  • 13th Amendment

    It abolished slavery. This amendment was passed by the senate. It was followed by the American Civil War.
  • 14th Amendment

    It granted citizenship to all people. The 14th amendment limited the state and officials. It was also known as the "due process".
  • 15th Amendment

    It 15th Amendment granted all men the right to vote which involved African Americans. They did not want to deny any vote whether black or white. It was the last of the Reconstruction Amendments.
  • Plessy v. Ferguson

    It was a decision by the US Supreme. It was known as "separate but equal". "Separate but equal" guaranteed equal protection.
